Years farming: I have been farming for the past 20 years.
My family: My wife is Debbie, my daughter Jenni is 25, Billy is 16, and Ben is 13.
How I came to be a farmer: I always wanted to be a farmer and in 1989 I quit my job with an agribusiness company to farm full time, taking over my family’s farm and expanding the business to where we are today.
The best thing about being a farmer: Being able to control your own destiny, the challenges, and the satisfaction of producing a product that is one of the most important and complete foods on earth.
My personal philosophy on farming: Agricultural production is one of the most important endeavors that is bestowed on man. The satisfaction of producing a product that nourishes so many people is so gratifying. I'm so proud to be a part of modern agriculture.

• Dairy cows in Ohio produced 5.11 billion pounds of milk in 2008.

• According to USDA, about 99 percent of all U.S. dairy farms are family-owned and operated.
• There are more than 60,000 dairy farms in America and the average herd size is 135 cows.
• A heifer is a female dairy cow that has not given birth to a calf.
• Dairy cows produce an average of 6 - 7 gallons of milk each day.
