“I just enjoy being outside with Mother Nature.”

Years farming: I grew up here on the farm, so like a lot of farmers I’ve been farming all my life. I’ve been farming full-time since I was out of college in 1997.
My family: I farm with my dad. I’m also married to my wife Jill and we have two young boys, Landon and Isaac.
How I came to be a farmer: Farming is in my blood. I’ve been around it all my life; I grew up with it. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in college, but I decided that this is where I needed to be.
The best thing about being a farmer: It’s a new project every day – every day it’s a different challenge and never the same old thing.
My personal philosophy on farming: Farming takes a lot of time and dedication. If something goes wrong, you have no one to blame but yourself. It’s an enjoyable livelihood – you get to be outside and work with animals and watch the seasons change; you’re around your family and that’s enjoyable. It’s hard work but it’s a privilege to do it.
